Thermal Imaging, also known as Thermography, is carried out using a specialist camera, complete with infrared sensitive detector and infrared radiation-transmitting lens.
Delivering images at normal video rates, these state-of-the-art cameras capture the heat distribution over the surface of an object – detecting variations as minute as 0.1 degree Celcius – and display images of the temperature variations present in shades of grey or pseudo-colour.
