Name: Ian Bullock
Job Role: Lead RVI Inspector, RVI Technical Authority and Support
Time at Vertech: 5 years
Your professional background and experience: Originally in Horticulture then moved into engineering. I now have approximately 30 years experience of carrying out RVI inspections, which has taken me to many different sites and countries. I have worked on all types of plant equipment from Petro-chemical sites to turbines. I enjoy the varied work our tightknit Vertech NZ team undertake and seeing the new RVI technicians gain confidence as they develop their skills and experience.
Key focus of your role: My key focus is in-field inspections utilising our remote operated video scopes/cameras all over NZ at a varied range of sites for an equally diverse client base. I also carryout mechanical service work on turbines. When I am not onsite, I train our technicians and inspectors in our inhouse RVI specific training scheme – focusing on project delivery, health and safety as well as developing the use and implementation of cutting-edge camera technology.
Business units you oversee: RVI Training, RVI Camera and Development Techniques.
Tell us something about yourself: I have a wonderful wife, whom I have been married to for 29 years and have two grown girls. I like fishing when the opportunity turns up, but my main joy is my garden – not so much flowers but vegetables, lots of vegetables.
